Kevo XL |
Kevo, taken from the Greek word for vacuum, is an evolution in the popular method of making parts and products through the use of vacuum forming. Vacuum forming is the process of softening plastic with heat then using the suction of a vacuum to form it around an object to create a hollow part, or mold. Kevo and Kevo XL make this age old process easy, and affordable for all makers and hobbyists.

What Can Be Made With Kevo XL?
What is Vacuum Forming?
Vacuum forming is particularly useful for replicating items from one mold, such as smaller items needed in larger quantities or tied together. Unlike 3D printing a build for each object, creating numerous items from a vacuum formed mold is very efficient in time and material, and does not require extensive design or tool expertise.
Vacuum forming is a simplified version of thermoforming, whereby a sheet of plastic is heated to 350 to 400 degrees in an oven or toaster oven, stretched over an object, and forced against the object by a vacuum (suction of air), creating a cavity once cooled. The cavity can be used as a mold for creating parts in a number of different mediums, such as plastic, rubber, wax and edible substances, like chocolate and hard candies. Or can be used by itself as a housing for your electronics project, or for making masks and RC car parts. Vacuum forming with Kevo is extremely fast and easy when compared to other techniques, such as 3D printing.
